Sophie, July 17: As part of its intensified crackdown on narcotics offenders, Police have booked three habitual drug peddlers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT NDPS Act) in Sopore.
The individuals booked are Muneeb Jabar Dar alias Shoga son of Abdul Jabar Dar resident of Muqam Shaheed Mir Sopore, currently lodged at District Jail Udhampur. Imtiyaz Ahmad Khandwaw son of Ghulam Hassan Khandwaw resident of Baghi Rehmat Sopore, currently lodged at Central Jail Kot Bhalwal. Ishrat Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Kabir resident of Adipora Sopore, currently lodged at District Jail Kathua.
All the three have a history of involvement in multiple NDPS cases and continued to engage in narcotic-related activities, posing a persistent threat to the safety and well-being of the society.
After sustained surveillance and compilation of a detailed dossier, the competent authority issued formal detention orders under the PIT NDPS Act, following thorough legal scrutiny.
Police reaffirms its zero-tolerance stance against drug trafficking and remains resolute in its efforts to dismantle the narcotics network operating in the region. The general public is urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with Police in the collective fight to build a drug-free society.
