Kulgam, August 01: An Encounter started between militants and government forces in Akhal area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district on Friday Evening.
Reports reaching Sachnews Jammu Kashmir, that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Akhal Kulgam.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.
The operation is going on and further details are awaited.
