Ganderbal, Sept 24: Tragedy struck in Kangan on Wednesday as a local man drowned in the Power Canal at Kawcherwan. The victim has been identified as Ajaz Ahmed Rather, son of Gh. Mohd Rather, a resident of Shah Sultan Colony, Kangan.
rescue teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), assisted by local police and civilians, managed to recover the body from the canal. The operation was personally monitored by SSP Ganderbal Khalil Poswal, who supervised the situation on the ground.
Eyewitnesses said a large number of residents had gathered at the site as the rescue mission was underway.
The recovery brought an emotional end to hours of intense efforts, leaving the local community in deep shock.
