PULWAMA, December 22: During a routine patrol at Rambi Ara in Lassipora, unidentified persons attacked a Geology and Mining Department employee, Mohammad Amin Sheikh.
Sheikh, a resident of Nowdal Tral sustained injuries in the attack and was immediately shifted to District Hospital Pulwama for medical treatment, officials told Sachnews.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, and efforts are underway to identify the culprits.
Officials of the Geology and Mining Department condemned the attack, saying that those who attacked Mohammad Amin during his duty should be identified and strict action should be taken against them.
Mohammad Amin, an injured employee of the Geology and Mining Department, told Sachnews that the attack on him occurred during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday at around 12:40 am in the Lassipora area of Pulwama.
He said that three unidentified persons attacked him with sticks, leaving him injured. Later, the concerned police admitted him to the District Hospital Pulwama, where he received treatment. He was discharged from the hospital this morning.
Speaking to Sachnews, District Mineral Officer Pulwama, Er. Mohammad Manzoor, condemned the attack on George and Mining department employee and said that Mohammad Amin was performing in his duty in Lassipora, Pulwama, when some unidentified persons injured him during his night duty.
He added that they have officially written to the police for lodging an FIR, and an investigation is underway. They have requested strict action against anyone involved in the attack. He also said that the incident has been reported to the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama and SSP Pulwama, who have extended their full support.a
