Police arrests two drug peddlers in Awantipora; contraband substances recovered

Awantipora, December 12:

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Awantipora and recovered contraband substance from their possession.


A police party of Police Post Reshipora  headed by Incharge  Police Police Reshipora  Inspector Bilal Ahmad  under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora during naka checking at  Dogripora  intercepted a vehicle ECO bearing registration number JK05M-4630. During search, 1.680 Kgms of grinded cannabis was recovered from their possession. 

The drug peddlers have been identified as Arif Ahmad S/O Sona ullah War R/O Warpora Sopore and Naseer Ahmad war S/O Mohd Maqbool War  R/O  Warpora Sopore. 


Both the accused have been arrested and shifted to the police station for custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.


Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.175/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated.


It is pertinent to mention here that from last five days  Six drugs peddlers including a lady drug peddler have been arrested, two notorious drug peddlers were booked under PIT NDPS and one vehicle identified during investigation as illegal  acquired property  was seized by Police District Awantipora.


General Public of Awantpora, Tral , Pampore and Khrew are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in the neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddlers will be  dealt strictly under law.
