Areeba Rashid from Saffron Town Pampore Wins Silver Medal at National Thang-Ta Championship; Local Athletes Achieve Black Belt Degree

PAMPORE, January 08: Areeba Rashid, a skilled athlete from Frestabal area of Saffron Town Pampore, has earned accolades by winning a silver medal at the 30th Thang-Ta Sub Junior and Senior National Championship at Haridwar Uttarakhand.

Competing against top martial artists from across the country, Areeba's impressive performance has brought recognition to her community and highlighted her talent in the traditional martial art of Thang-Ta.


Adding to the region’s pride, Shabir Ahmad Mir, also from Frestabal Pampore, Suhail Ahmad from Srinagar, and Saima Jan from Ganderbal successfully completed their black belt degrees at the same event. Their achievements reflect their dedication to Thang-Ta and years of rigorous training.


These accomplishments not only bring honor to the individuals but also emphasize the growing prominence of martial arts in Jammu and Kashmir. They serve as an inspiration for aspiring athletes, showcasing the potential of local talent on a national stage.


The event was organized by the Uttarakhand Thang-Ta Martial Arts Association under the auspices of the Thang-Ta Martial Arts Federation of India. The competition took place from January 4 to January 6, attracting participants from across the country.
