Kathua, March 30:

The Army on Saturday reported the elimination of two terrorists and the recovery of war-like stores during the ongoing encounter in Safiyan village of Kathua district

"Relentless operations since 27 Mar 25 have led to the elimination of two terrorists and recovery of war-like stores. The operation continues," the Army said, as per Sachnews Jammu Kashmir.

Earlier, Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat said that the encounter began after a couple reported a sighting of suspected Pakistanis in Sanyal on the evening of March 23. Following the report, a group of officers swiftly responded and engaged in an encounter, but the terrorists managed to escape, leaving behind four magazines, three IEDs, and two grenades.

He further mentioned that security forces, including the BSF, Army, and CRPF, secured the area, and the operation continued for four days. Acting on intelligence inputs, security forces tracked down the terrorists, leading to another encounter in which two terrorists were killed on the spot.

Tragically, four security personnel were martyred during the encounter due to the terrorists’ clear line of sight.

"The intention and mission of the J&K Police remain strong. We will not sleep until we put an end to such activities from our neighbor," DGP Prabhat asserted.

He confirmed that the operation is still underway, with security forces working tirelessly on the ground. "As we talk, officers and teams are conducting thorough searches. We hope to conclude the operation successfully by tomorrow," he added.
