Srinagar, April 23:
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday expressed deep anguish and shock over the terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed lives of several Tourists.
In a strong statement, he called the attack a “despicable and senseless act of brutality” that has no place in any civilized society.
“This barbaric and senseless act of brutality against innocent civilians has no place in our society. We condemn it in the strongest possible terms. We mourn the precious lives lost,” said the Chief Minister.
As a mark of support and solidarity, the J&K Government has announced an ex-gratia relief of ₹10 lakh each to the families of the deceased, ₹2 lakh for those seriously injured, and ₹1 lakh for those with minor injuries. CM Abdullah emphasized that while no compensation can truly make up for the devastating loss, the financial assistance is a small measure of the administration’s solidarity with the victims.
All arrangements are being made for the dignified transport of the deceased back to their native places. The injured are being provided the best possible medical care. Our hearts go out to the bereaved families. We share in your grief and stand by you in this dark hour. But terror will never break our resolve, and we will not rest until those behind this barbarity are brought to justice, CM said.
