Today, Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag hosted a major Continuing Medical Education (CME) event titled "Heart Care 2026: Navigating the Clinical Pathway for Acute Myocardial Infarction." Experts and delegates who participated in the CME, described it as a major success.
Under the patronage of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Rukhsana Najeeb, the event gathered over 300 delegates to discuss improving emergency care for heart attack patients in South Kashmir. The event started at 9 am and concluded at 5 pm. The CME was accredited by J and K Medical Registration Council for 4 credit hours.
Key Highlights of the CME were enhancing acute care for Myocardial Infarction (MI) in peripheral areas and streamlining transportation for Primary PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention) to centers with catheterization labs. Clinical discussions included immediate drug therapy, thrombolysis, managing conduction disturbances, preventing sudden cardiac death, and the logistics of patient transfer to specialized facilities.
The event featured renowned cardiologists from SKIMS and GMC Srinagar, including:
Prof. Dr. K. Iqbal, Prof. Dr. Nisar Tramboo, Prof. Dr. K. Aslam, and Prof. Dr. Khalid Mohidin.
Prof. Dr. Bashir Naikoo, Prof. Dr. Nazir Lone, Dr. Imran Hafeez, and Dr. Irfan bhat. Specialists from private hospitals—including Paras, Khyber, Noora, and Ujala Cygnus. Physicians from across South Kashmir participate in the event as delegates.
The event was organized by the Department of Cardiology at GMC Anantnag, led by Incharge Head Dr. Syed Maqbool, with support from Dr. Shamim Iqbal, Dr. Showkat Hussain Shah, and Dr. Shahood Kakroo, all working as cardiologists at GMC Anantnag.
Minister for Education, Health and Medical Education and Social Welfare, Ms Sakina Masood Itoo was invited as Chief Guest Principal and Dean GMC Anantnag Prof Dr Rukhsana Najeeb congratulated the department of cardiology for conducting such a high Level CME on Cardiac Care with great success.
