Anantnag, April 23:

In the aftermath of the heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of several civilians, including local resident Syed Adil Hussain Shah, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday visited the bereaved family to offer condolences and attend the last rites of the young horse rider.

Speaking to reporters at the funeral, CM Abdullah lauded Adil's courage, revealing that locals suggest Adil attempted to resist the attackers during the ambush and may have even tried to snatch a weapon in a desperate bid to stop them. “We have heard from locals that he was one of the few who tried to resist the attackers—possibly even attempting to snatch a weapon. That act of bravery may have cost him his life,” Abdullah said as per Sachnews Jammu Kashmir.

The Chief Minister described Adil as a hardworking and brave young man, the sole breadwinner for his family, who was out earning a livelihood when tragedy struck. “It is deeply painful that a man who had stepped out simply to earn an honest living had to return home in a shroud,” he said.

Expressing solidarity with the grieving family, Abdullah assured them that the administration stands firmly with them in this hour of loss. “I have come here not only to offer my condolences but also to reassure the family that the administration will do everything possible to support them. We will ensure that all necessary assistance is extended,” he said.
