Pampore, April 09:
A lineman working on daily wages with the Power Development Department (PDD), Sub-Division Pampore, has succumbed to injuries he sustained after falling from an electric pole in the Saffron Town area of Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Reports reaching Sachnews Jammu Kashmir revealed that the lineman, identified as Mohammad Yousuf Dar, a resident of Gooripora Barsoo village, was repairing an electric line when he accidentally fell from a pole in the Frestabal area of Pampore on April 5 (Saturday).
Dar was immediately rushed to the Sub-District Hospital Pampore and later referred to SKIMS Soura, Srinagar, for advanced treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday evening, an official informed Sachnews Jammu Kashmir.
The Assistant Executive Engineer, along with other officials and field staff of the Electric Division Pampore, visited the hospital soon after the incident to express their concern and support for the injured worker, officials said.
Assistant Executive Engineer of Sub-Division Pampore, Er. Mohammad Iqbal, told Sachnews that Mohammad Yousuf Dar, a PDL worker critically injured on duty on April 5, passed away around 5 PM on Wednesday at SKIMS Soura, Srinagar. Dar had remained admitted to SKIMS since the day of the accident.
A pall of gloom descended on Gooripora village in Pulwama district as the news of Dar’s death spread in his native area.
Meanwhile, hundreds of people, including PDD officials, participated in the last rites of the deceased lineman held in his native village of Gooripora.
