Anantnag, May 31: As part of its ongoing drive against drug trafficking, Police in Anantnag have arrests 04 drug peddlers in two separate operations and recovered substantial quantity of narcotic substances.
A police party from Police Post Sangam at a checkpoint established at Gund Baba Khalil, intercepted a vehicle (Santro) bearing registration number JK13A-5700 with two persons on board. During search of the vehicle, approximately 21 kilograms of raw narcotic material, including cannabis seeds were recovered. The accused have been identified as Mohd Ayoub Kumar, son of Habibullah Kumar, and Javid Ahmad Kumar, son of Gh Hassan Kumar, both residents of Waghama. Both have been arrested and vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Moreover, a police party from Police Station Bijbehara intercepted a motorcycle at Zirpara near GDC Bijbehara ridden by two persons. During search, Charas-like narcotic substance weighing approximately 128 grams was recovered from their possession. The accused have been identified as Sahil Ahmad Khanday, son of Abdul Hameed Khanday, resident of Zirpara, and Amir Sohail, son of Mohd Ashraf Teli, resident of Karewa Colony, Bijbehara. In this regard, a case under the NDPS Act has been registered and investigation is going on.
The consistent actions of J&K Police against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
