Baramulla, July 14:
The body of a 12-year-old boy, Ahmad Bin Khalid, son of Khalid Mehraj Shah and a resident of Hyderpora Srinagar, was recovered on Monday from the Gantamulla Power Canal in Boniyar area of North Kashmir's Baramulla district. He was among four individuals who drowned in the canal on Sunday.
Ahmad’s body is the third to be recovered since the incident. One boy was rescued alive, while two bodies have now been retrieved.
Search efforts are still underway to locate the fourth and final missing person, identified as Mehnaz Rashid Shah, 40, son of Ab Rashid Shah and a resident of Khanyar, Srinagar.
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Baramulla, in coordination with Civil Defence Uri, resumed the operation early this morning to locate the remaining missing persons.
Officials told Sachnews, four individuals had gone missing in the water reservoir near the power canal on Sunday afternoon. Local residents initially managed to rescue two of them—one was found alive and rushed to a nearby hospital, while the other was unfortunately found dead.
"Rescue personnel remain deployed at the site, using boats and diving equipment to assist in the search," they said.
