Chemical Leakage at GGHS Khrew: 31 Students Hospitalized; MLA Masoodi Visits Hospitals

Pampore, July 28:

A chemical leakage during a practical class at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHS) Khrew caused a serious health scare on Monday, leaving 31 students hospitalized after they reportedly fainted due to exposure.

Speaking to Sachnews Jammu Kashmir, Dr. Mohammad Yousuf said, 13 students were referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar, while 3 others were shifted to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Pampore for specialized care. The remaining students were treated locally and are reported to be stable.

In response to the incident, Member of Parliament and former Justice, Hasnain Masoodi, visited both SDH Pampore and SMHS Hospital Srinagar to assess the condition of the affected students. He interacted with the medical staff and inquired about the health and well-being of those admitted.

Expressing deep concern over the incident, Masoodi assured that appropriate measures will be taken to ensure student safety in all schools. He emphasized the urgent need for proper safety protocols, particularly in science laboratories of educational institutions.

Tehsildar Pampore Malik Asif Ahmad, BMO Dr. Mohammad Yousuf, and SDPO Pampore R.P. Singh also visited the hospitals to monitor the situation and coordinate the emergency response.
