Earlier in the day, panic broke out at GGHSS Khrew when a chemical leak occurred during a laboratory experiment, leaving 31 students unconscious. The incident raised serious concerns among parents and public about safety protocols in educational institutions, especially in science laboratories.

The affected students were immediately rushed to PHC Khrew, where doctors confirmed that all were in stable condition

Speaking to Sachnews Jammu Kashmir BMO Pampore, Dr. Mohammad Yousuf said, 13 students were referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar, while 3 others were shifted to SDH Pampore for specialized care. The rest were treated locally and later discharged.

Tehsildar Pampore, Malik Asif Ahmad, confirmed the incident and told Sachnews Jammu Kashmir that the students had shown symptoms such as fainting and palpitations, likely due to exposure to acidic gas during the lab session. He visited the school, interacted with the Principal and laboratory staff, and attempted to understand the sequence of events.

The lab lecturer who conducted the experiment had accompanied the affected students to SMHS Hospital and was not present during the official visit.
