PAMPORE, August 23:

In a major action against illegal mining, the District Mineral Officer (DMO) Pulwama, Khursheed Ahmad, on Friday night seized thirteen vehicles, including two JCBs and eleven dumpers, involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of clay at Konibal village of Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Officials told Sachnews that the operation was launched after receiving specific complaints regarding rampant illegal extraction of clay in Konibal Pampore and adjoining areas. Acting swiftly, the DMO Pulwama Khursheed Ahmad along with his enforcement team carried out a full-night operation, successfully impounding the machinery and vehicles engaged in the unlawful activity.

DMO Pulwama Khursheed Ahmad said the stringent action is part of the administration’s zero-tolerance policy against illegal mining. “This operation serves as a deterrent against reported violations and reinforces our message of ‘Stay Legal, Stay Safe’ in the district,” he added.

The Pulwama district administration has warned that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
