Pulwama, August 28: In a major crackdown on illegal mining, authorities seized four mega excavators during a nocturnal raid in Lassipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of District Mineral Officer (DMO) Pulwama Dr Khursheed Ahmad, with active support from Police Station Lassipora, on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Basharat Qayoom (IAS), Officials told Sachnews.
Officials said the seizure is part of the administration’s ongoing mission of “zero tolerance” towards illegal mining activities in the district. “People are urged to report any illegal or unauthorized extraction so that strict and timely action can be taken,” an official statement read.
It is pertinent to mention that dozens of heavy LNT machines involved in similar violations have already been confiscated by the DMO Pulwama during previous drives across the district.
