Kathua, August 3: Two persons lost their lives and three others sustained serious injuries after a vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a nallah along the Kathua–Basohli road near Kainta Morh (Dakhnaka) on Sunday.
Reports reaching Sachnews Jammu Kashmir that the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Police Post Basantpur, when an XUV vehicle bearing registration number PB10KB-5888 veered off the roadway and fell into a Nallah.
Local police personnel from PP Basantpur rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information regarding the accident.
All five occupants of the vehicle were rescued and shifted to GMC Kathua for emergency treatment.
However, two individuals were declared brought dead by doctors at the hospital. The deceased have been identified as: Mohinder Paul and Pawan Madhan.
The identities and residential details of both deceased are currently being verified.

All three injured individuals are residents of Ferozepur, Punjab.
They are currently undergoing treatment at GMC Kathua.
Police have taken cognizance of the matter and a case has been registered.
Preliminary investigation suggests the vehicle lost control near a bend in the road before sliding into the gorge.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
