In order to boost the morale of fishing community Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Athar Aamir Khan (IAS) today distributed incentives in the form of fishing equipments including Handle Nets, Covering Nets, Weighing Balances etc among 11 beneficiaries covered under HADP for the year 2024-25.
Accompanied by Assistant Director Fisheries Kulgam Shabir Ahmad Shabir the event took place in the lawn of Mini-Secretariat where a no beneficiaries gathered.
Interacting with the beneficiaries worthy Deputy Commissioner emphasized on the importance of generation of employment avenues in Fisheries sector by way of adopting fish culture practices to achieve a gainful employment.
The concerned officials of the Department were directed to increase the awareness among the masses to create such employment generation units and proper utilization of water resources in the District he added.
Besides, two (02 ) three wheelers vehicles for the transportation of fish stocks were also distributed to the beneficiaries covered under PMMSY during this year. The provision invloves to boost fish cultural practices and transportation of livestocks procured from the wild.
It is worth to mention that during 2024-25, twenty one (21) No. of fish rearing tanks for culture of Trout stand established. While 01 Trout Hatchery has also been given to entrepreneurs in fisheries sector during 2024-25 under PMMSY & HADP the A D Fisheries Mr Shabir revealed on the occasion.
Being the downtrodden community, under Nutritional and livelihood support a sub component of PMMSY 550 registered fishermen were benefitted and Rs 3000 each were transferred through DBT mode he added.
The cultural fish prouduction both in Private and Govt Farms stands at 220 Metric Tones from 160 units. These units in private sector have provided empolyment to 480 families directly or indirectly the press release reads.
