Pulwama Police Clarifies Misreported Kidnapping Incident Involving Two Minors

Sachnews Jammu Kashmir  Pulwama, April 10:

Pulwama Police has issued a rebuttal following a kidnapping complaint filed earlier this week, clarifying that no abduction took place and that the minors involved fabricated the story to avoid attending school.

Police officials told Sachnews Jammu Kashmir, that on April 7, 2025, Police Station Pulwama received a written complaint from Bilal Ahmad Ganaie, a resident of Ratnipora, Pulwama, alleging that an unknown Alto driver had forcibly taken his 10-year-old daughter and her classmate into his car while they were on their way to school.

Acting promptly, Police registered FIR No. 91/2025 under Section 137(2) of the BNS and initiated a thorough investigation.

During the course of inquiry, statements were recorded from the minor girls and their parents, both before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and the competent court. The minors admitted that no kidnapping had occurred and that they had voluntarily walked from Ratnipora to Nadoo to skip school.

Additionally, CCTV footage from the area was reviewed, which corroborated their statements and showed no evidence of forced abduction or any involvement of the alleged vehicle. The parents also confirmed that their daughters had fabricated the kidnapping story to avoid attending school, police said.
