43-Year-Old Dies After Being Hit by Train Near Anantnag Station

Anantnag, April 21: In a tragic incident on Sunday evening, a man lost his life after being struck by a moving train near the Anantnag Railway Station. The accident occurred around 7:30 PM at track kilometer 17.2, approximately one kilometer from the station near the flyover.

The deceased has been identified as Abdul Rashid Bhat, son of Mohammad Abdullah Bhat, aged 43, a resident of Monghall Anantnag, currently residing at Sofigund Wanpoh. He was fatally hit by a train en route from Banihal to Budgam, resulting in his death on the spot.

Following the incident, a team from Railway Police Anantnag immediately reached the location and shifted the body to GMC Anantnag for medico-legal formalities. Police have initiated proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS) at Railway Police Station Anantnag.

Authorities have urged the general public to exercise extreme caution around railway tracks and to strictly avoid trespassing for their safety.
