RAMBAN, APRIL 21: Mashkoor, a groom in Jammu and Kashmir, walked to his wedding venue on Monday along with his procession after landslides triggered by heavy rainfall shut down the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH 44).
Mashkoor, began his journey at 6 AM after parking his vehicle several kilometers away from the destination. “It is my wedding day. This is the situation because of the heavy rainfall yesterday. We have to go on foot,” he said.
With nearly 7-8 kilometers still left to cover on foot, he said, “We would bring the bride back the same way, as the roads are not cleared."
He urged the government to expedite the restoration work on National Highway-44.
