Srinagar, April 22:
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on tourists in the Baisaran area of Pahalgam in South Kashmir's Anantnag district which left multiple people injured.
In a statement, the Chief Minister expressed his deep anguish and shock, saying, “I’m shocked beyond belief. This attack on our visitors is an abomination. The perpetrators of this attack are animals, inhuman, and worthy of contempt. No words of condemnation are enough.”
Offering his heartfelt condolences, Omar Abdullah added, “I send my sympathies to the families of the deceased.”
He further informed that he has been in touch with party colleague and Minister Sakina Itoo, who has moved to the hospital to personally oversee the treatment and support arrangements for the injured tourists. The Chief Minister also announced that he would be returning to Srinagar immediately to take stock of the situation and coordinate the government's response.
“The death toll is still being ascertained, so I don’t want to get into those details at this stage. They will be officially conveyed as the situation becomes clearer,” he said, underlining the gravity of the incident.
Labeling the attack as one of the most serious in recent years, Abdullah stated, “Needless to say, this attack is much larger than anything we’ve seen directed at civilians in recent years.”
