Jammu-Srinagar NHW to Remain Shut Tomorrow Amid Ongoing Repairs

Jammu, APRIL 20:

In view of the incomplete restoration work, authorities have announced that the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) will remain closed for vehicular traffic on April 21. The closure comes as a precautionary measure following recent damage caused by landslides and inclement weather in various stretches along the highway.

According to the J&K Traffic Police, restoration efforts are currently underway; however, the condition of the road remains unsuitable for safe travel. "People are advised not to undertake any journey on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW until the restoration work is completed and the surface is deemed traffic-worthy," a traffic department official told Sachnews Jammu Kashmir.

Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road (NH-244) continues to be closed due to heavy snow accumulation. A decision regarding its reopening will be taken after clearance from NHIDCL.

  • Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) Road also remains shut, pending a green signal from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).

  • Mughal Road is open only for one-way traffic from Shopian towards Poonch, Subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from Road maintenance agencies (GREF). Only one way traffic for LMVs from Shopian towards Poonch shall be allowed on Mughal Road. These vehicles shall be allowed from Herpora (Shopian) at 1000 hrs, upto 1500 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut of timing as per order issued by DM Poonch vide No DCS/ADC-PS/2025-26/185-92 dated 15-04-2025.

  • Bhaderwah-Chamba Road remains closed due to snow accumulation.
