Stolen Mobile Phones Worth ₹3 Lakh Recovered by Bandipora Police, Two Arrested

Bandipora, April 20: 

Police in Bandipora have arrested two individuals and recovered stolen items, including 17 to 18 Android mobile phones, valued at approximately ₹3 lakh. 

Police in a statement to Sachnews Jammu Kashmir,said that police Station Bandipora received an application on 21st March 2025 from a shopkeeper, Sheik Javid Ahmad, son of Ghulam Mohammad, a resident of Plan Bandipora, Ward No. 2. He operates a mobile phone shop named "Sheik Electronics" in Bandipora.

The complainant mentioned that during the intervening night of 20th/21st March 2025, some thieves had forcibly entered his property and stole approximately 17-18 Android mobile phones, valued at around ₹3 lakh, from his car (registration number JK15-5752) which was parked in the lawn of his residence.

A case (FIR No. 47/2025) under sections 331(4), 305(B) BNS was subsequently registered at Police Station Bandipora.

A special team of PS Bandipora, headed by the SHO under the supervision of the DySP Headquarters Bandipora, was constituted, and an investigation was initiated. During the investigation, with the help of human and technical intelligence, the police identified two suspects. Upon questioning, the suspects confessed to the crime, and the stolen mobile phones were recovered from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Junaid Ahmad Bhat, son of Reyaz Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Ward No. 2 Bandipora, and Sahil Tariq Malla, son of Tariq Ahmad Malla, a resident of Nowpora Bandipora, currently residing in Ajar Bandipora.

Further investigation into the case is ongoing, police said in a statement.
