Srinagar, April 4: PDP MLA Waheed ur Rehman Para has taken a sharp dig at the shifting priorities of Jammu and Kashmir’s political leadership, expressing disappointment over the current focus on administrative matters rather than core constitutional issues.
His comments come at a time when a crucial meeting of ruling alliance partners is underway at the Deputy Chief Minister’s Gupkar residence in Srinagar.
Taking to X, Para, as per Sachnews, stated that a party which once held the authority to appoint its own Sadr-e-Riyasat and Prime Minister is now reduced to fighting over transfers. He expressed disappointment that 50 MLAs have united — not to resist the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019 — but to lobby for the transfer of KAS officers.
He further alleged that by normalizing the post-August 5 political order, regional leaders had inadvertently legitimized the Centre’s move, all in hopes of administrative favor. Para argued that if the leadership had stood firm, appointed their own Advocate General, nominated MLAs, and remained unwavering on the Article 370 resolution, they would not be left pleading for transfers today.
"A party in J&K that once appointed its own Sadri Reyast and PM is now fighting over Tehsildar appointments, not rights. Goalposts aren’t just shifting, they’ve hit rock bottom. 50 MLAs unite, not for the resisting 5th August, but for KAS transfers. Focus on symptoms only not on August 5th? You started by surrendering and normalizing August 5th, expecting them to facilitate you because you facilitated them. If only you’d taken a stand, appointed your own Advocate General, nominated 5 MLAs, and never compromised on 370 resolution transfers would have been on your platter. You refused to stand for 13 July, and the Waqf Bill was just empty rhetoric. Now, the same cabinet that justified the same bureaucrats in a month-long assembly session is complaining about them?," PDP MLA wrote on X as per Sachnews Jammu Kashmir.
