Srinagar, April 10:

Senior National Conference (NC) leader and Member of Parliament, Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha segment Mian Altaf Ahmad Larvi on Thursday clarified his party’s position regarding the controversial Waqf (Amendment) Act, stating that he had opposed the bill from the beginning, even before its passage in Parliament.

Speaking on the growing criticism from opposition parties in Kashmir over the National Conference's stand on the Act, Mian Altaf as per Sachnews Jammu Kashmir said, “I had opposed this bill even when it was first brought up a couple of months ago. Unfortunately, it was passed in Parliament due to the majority held by the Modi-led government."

Mian Altaf emphasized that this is not the time for political parties in Jammu and Kashmir to target one another, particularly on issues that impact the community at large. “I believe it is not the right time to criticise each other. Especially the political parties of Kashmir must refrain from internal blame games and remain united,” he added.
