Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Friday said the government is closely monitoring the situation, and summer vacation will be considered based on weather conditions and necessity. She emphasized that the health and safety of students is the government's top priority, and appropriate action will be taken as per the evolving heatwave situation.
Speaking to reporters in Kokernag, Minister Itoo stated, “We have been receiving numerous calls from parents and students expressing concerns about the heat, especially during morning assemblies. Taking this into account, we have revised the school timings to provide some relief.”
She further emphasized that the government is closely monitoring the temperature trends and will act accordingly. “If the heatwave continues and the need arises, we will not hesitate to declare summer vacations. The health and well-being of students is our top priority,” she added.
