New Delhi/Srinagar: In a recent interview, Veteran actor Kamal Haasan has expressed his emotional connection with Kashmir, reaffirming that the region is as much his home as any other part of the country. Speaking in a recent interview, Haasan addressed the sensitive climate in the Valley following the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor.
When asked whether he would consider promoting tourism in Kashmir by shooting a film there, Haasan responded thoughtfully, emphasizing the importance of timing and sensitivity.
“You can, but in a critical moment like that, we postponed even our celebrations. We didn’t resume the trailer launch of ‘Thug Life’ until we got a signal from the government and the army. We were waiting for that because we can't be celebrating while our boys are dying there. That was my first feeling — I said, keep art aside, it can come later,” Haasan said.
The actor added that he believes making a film at such a time might even upset the local communities, let alone people elsewhere. “Maybe not now, but I will go there. It’s my place too,” he said.
Reiterating his belief in national unity, Haasan concluded, “I was promised that from Kanyakumari to Kashmir is my home — and I still do believe it.”
