Search Operation Continues on Day 2 to Retrieve Body of Teen Who Drowned in Jhelum Near Jamia Masjid Sopore

Sopore, June 27: A joint search and rescue operation led by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Baramulla, in coordination with the Fisheries Department, entered its second day on Friday as efforts continued to trace the body of a teenage boy who drowned in the River Jhelum near Jamia Masjid Sopore.

The victim has been identified as Bilal Ahmad Parray, son of Abdul Jabbar, aged 15, a resident of Rafiabad. 

Officials told Sachnews Jammu Kashmir that the boy had reportedly drowned while bathing in the river on Thursday, prompting an immediate response from local authorities and rescue teams.

Despite extensive efforts on the first day, the boy's body could not be located, and the operation resumed early Friday morning with divers and rescue personnel scanning the waters in and around the incident site.
