TRAL, July 29:

In a significant operation, the Wildlife Department successfully rescued three leopard cubs from Lurgam village in the Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.

According to officials, the cubs were spotted by locals, who immediately informed the authorities. A team from the Wildlife Department promptly rushed to the location and safely rescued the cubs after a brief operation.

Sources told Sachnews Jammu Kashmir that the leopard was initially spotted inside the house of Bashir Ahmad Mirza, son of Gulle Shah, a resident of Lurgam Tral. Following the sighting, residents raised an alarm and informed wildlife officials, leading to the swift rescue of the cubs.

The rescued cubs have been shifted to a wildlife care centre for medical examination and necessary care.

The department has urged residents in the area to remain vigilant and to report any further sightings, as the mother leopard may still be in the vicinity.

The rescue operation has been widely appreciated by the public. Officials also commended the timely response of both the local residents and the wildlife personnel, which ensured the safety of the cubs.
