Anantnag, July 27: Reaffirming the National Conference’s commitment to the comprehensive development of Anantnag, senior NC leader and Vice District President Imran Amin Shah on Sunday emphasized that the party, under the visionary leadership of Dr. Farooq Abdullah and former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, is dedicated to transforming the historic town through modern developmental initiatives.
During a tour of the Sarnal area, Shah expressed serious concern over the long-standing neglect of the locality, particularly under previous administrations. He remarked that despite its historical significance, Anantnag — and Sarnal in particular — has been sidelined in terms of development, with certain political figures allegedly exploiting local residents for personal gain rather than working toward meaningful public welfare.
“It is unfortunate that citizens were compelled to repair roads and lanes at their own expense due to the lack of proper municipal allocations,” Shah said, calling the situation a glaring failure in basic governance.
He urged the local administration to expedite development works in the area, especially under Capex funding, with a strong focus on upgrading inner lanes, drainage systems, sanitation, and ensuring the safety of infrastructure.
Imran Shah also issued a clarion call to the youth of Anantnag to take an active role in the democratic process. “Youth are the torchbearers of our future. Their engagement in political and social spheres is essential for building a stronger democracy and grooming future leaders,” he added.
