Pampore, August 18: The Court of the Judicial Magistrate Ist Class (JMIC), Pampore, has convicted the accused persons in a long-pending case and sentenced them to two months of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹10,000. In default of payment, the accused shall undergo an additional one month of simple imprisonment. The Court further directed that the fine, upon recovery, be paid as compensation to the complainant.
The case stemmed from a 2015 incident, during which the complainant and her family were assaulted, the complainant’s modesty was outraged, and damage was caused to their property. After considering the testimonies of witnesses, medical reports, and other evidence, the Court held the accused guilty of offences punishable under Sections 354, 323, and 427 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC).
The successful conviction was made possible due to the dedicated prosecution conducted by Learned Assistant Public Prosecutor Noveed Sarwar Khan, whose meticulous preparation, effective presentation of evidence, and persuasive advocacy before the Court played a pivotal role in securing justice.
Delivering judgment, the Court underscored the need to deal firmly with unlawful conduct. By awarding both imprisonment and fine, the Court reaffirmed that the dignity of individuals and the sanctity of law must be upheld without compromise.
This conviction once again reflects the prosecution’s commitment to uphold the rule of law, safeguard public justice, and ensure accountability for offenders, while also highlighting the crucial role played by prosecutors in strengthening the justice delivery system.
