Anantnag, August 3:
Prominent National Conference leader and District Vice President Imran Amin Shah on Saturday emphasized the transformative role of sports in youth development and called for active youth participation in the upcoming Panchayat and local body elections.
Speaking at a sports kit distribution ceremony held in Anzwalla, Shah highlighted the critical connection between youth empowerment, sports, and grassroots democracy.
“Sports play a vital role in empowering youth by promoting physical and mental well-being, developing essential life skills, and enhancing social inclusion,” Shah said. “By encouraging young people to participate in local elections, we not only raise political awareness but also ensure that their voices are reflected in governance and development.”
Highlighting sports as a catalyst for building confidence, leadership, and team spirit, Shah noted that athletic engagement offers a constructive outlet for youthful energy and stress, while also contributing positively to academic and personal success.
Shah urged the District Administration to prioritize developmental works in the Anzwala area, stressing that upgraded sports infrastructure and youth-friendly policies are essential to harnessing the full potential of the younger generation. “When youth feel supported, they are more likely to contribute meaningfully to democratic processes and community development,” he remarked.
He also reiterated the long-pending demand for the widening and macadamization of the Doni Chek–Anzwala road, stating that the area has long suffered from administrative neglect. “Previous regimes have failed this region, using its people for political mileage without delivering on basic infrastructure,” Shah asserted.
The event concluded with enthusiastic participation from local youth, who expressed appreciation for the support and recognition of their role in shaping the future of the region.
