In a significant action against the drug menace, Shopian Police apprehended one drug peddler and recovered contraband substances from his possession in the jurisdiction of Police Post Hermain.
A police team from Police Post Hermain established a checkpoint at Higher Secondry School Hermain. During naka checking one person moving under suspicious circumstances was intercepted and apprehended tactfully. Upon search, Charas like substance approximately 164grams was recovered from his possession. The arrested individual disclosed his identity as Showkat Ahmad Thoker Son of Manzoor Ahmad Thoker resident of Ramnagri Shopian, police officials said in a press statement issued to Sachnews.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 190/2025 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Shopian. Further investigation is underway to identify the forward and backward linkages of the arrested individuals.The operation was meticulously executed by IC Police Post Hermain SI Bashir Ahmad under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Shopian Shri Imtiyaz Ahmad-JKPS and overall command of SSP Shopian Shri Anayat Ali Chowdhary-IPS.
