Shopian Police Conducts Market Checking; Fines Imposed, 6 FIRs Registered Against Unhygienic Restaurants, Hotels & Shops

As part of its continued efforts to ensure the availability of safe, hygienic and quality food items for the public, Shopian Police, in collaboration with the Food Safety Department and the concerned Magistrate, carried out extensive market checking across the district.

During the inspections, multiple violations of food safety and hygiene standards were detected. Consequently, fines were imposed on several erring establishments, including Hotel Tabish, Fish Shop Bongam Shopian, Restaurant Hungary Hills, Brand Habibi (Zainapora), Sofi Bakers (Imamsahib), and a vegetable & fruit shop (Keller). In addition, 06 FIRs under relevant sections of law were registered at Police Stations Shopian(186/2025 &187/2025), Zainapora(67/2025 & 68/ 2025), Imamsahib (27/2025), and Keller (38/2025) against the owners for gross violations and unhygienic practices that posed a serious threat to public health, Police officials said in a press statement issued to Sachnews.

Shopian Police has urged all traders and food business operators to strictly adhere to prescribed guidelines, cautioning that strict legal action will be taken against violators in the future as well.
