PULWAMA, January 24: District Pulwama marked National Girl Child Day with fervor and enthusiasm, the Department of Social Welfare and SANKAP- Hub for Empowerment of Women Pulwama, organized a grand function at Circuit House Pulwama on Friday.
The event, graced by Principal Government Degree College Rajpora Pulwama, Dr. Gazala Gayas as the Chief guest.
The event was aimed to celebrate the achievements of girls and raise awareness about the importance of the "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" initiative.
Various girls who have excelled in diverse disciplines took center stage, sharing their inspiring journeys. Dr. Gazala Gayas addressing the gathering, welcomed all female participants, emphasizing the significance of National Girl Child Day in fostering equality and empowerment. She also emphasized the transformative role of National Girl Child Day in shaping a future devoid of gender disparities, officials told Sachnews in a statement.
Reflecting on the positive impact of the "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" scheme, District Social Welfare Officer Pulwama Azhar Amin highlighted the transformation in societal mindset and behavior. He stressed that girls represent a generation and commended their achievements across various fields. Encouraging a celebration without fear, he envisioned a future where National Girl Child Day is marked with pride and optimism.
Chief Medical Officer Pulwama Dr. Tehmeena Jamil talked about the improvement in Sex Ratio at birth (SRB) and Child Sex Ratio ( CSR) and said from dreamers to doers, every girl has the
power to change the world.
The event featured a felicitation ceremony, honoring the the female offiers and Officials from different departments, 16 years Female Writer Irtika Mehraj was felcitated for publishing her book " Desires were Illusions " female toppers of 10th & 12th classes. Baby kits were distributed to mothers of newborns, symbolizing a commitment to the well-being of both mother and child.
The program was attended by CDPO PUlwana , District ASHA coordinator, Supervisors and AWWs of Mission Poshan, ASHA workers, District Programme Manager ( NRLM) along with Cluster Coordinators, Students, Teachers, Officials from SANKALP- HEW, OSC, CWC, CHL, DCPU unit, District Legal Services Authority Pulama and other officers and Officials.This program showcased a collective effort towards empowering and celebrating the girl child.
The Programme was Inaugurated by a well speach by District Social Welfare Officer Pulwama, and others speakers of the occasion were CMO Pulwama, CDPO Pulwama, District ASHA Coordinator, District Programme Manager ( NRLM) and Adv. Waheeda Anjum. The event was concluded by vote of thanks which was presented by Mansha Ahad ( DMC) Sankalp- HEW Mission Shakti Pulwama.
