Traffic Advisory: LMVs Allowed Up to Harkhand Daksum from March 18

Anantnag, March 17: The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kokernag has issued a traffic advisory permitting the movement of Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) up to Harkhand Daksum on NH-244 from March 18, 2025, following the clearance of snow by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).

The decision comes in response to concerns from local residents and transporters who rely on tourism for their livelihood. Despite a high number of tourists visiting Daksum, restrictions on further movement had impacted the local economy.

Guidelines for Traffic Movement:

  1. The movement of all vehicles will be allowed only up to Harkhand only. 
  2. No vehicle will be permitted beyond Harkhand during this period, traffic police will manage movement of Tourist vehicles at Harkhand point. No vehicle will be permitted beyond Harkhand during this period, traffic police will manage movement of Tourist vehicles at Harkhand point.

    3. This order will remain in effect until further notice, and the situation will be reviewed periodically.

    4. Tourists are advised to comply with the restrictions and follow instructions from the local administration and police authorities to ensure their safety. 

The administration has urged visitors to comply with the guidelines to ensure smooth and safe travel while supporting the local tourism economy.
