Chenani, April 11:
A road accident took place inside the Chenani-Nashri Tunnel on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) on Friday, leaving eight people injured and resulting in the death of 15 to 20 sheep.
Reports reaching Sachnews Jammu Kashmir said a truck transporting sheep, bearing registration number JK21-3479, was on its way from Chenani towards Nashri when it rammed into the rear of a canter truck registration number JK21A-439 inside the tunnel.
Officials told Sachnews Jammu Kashmir that the accident left eight individuals injured, all of whom were initially shifted to Chenani Hospital for treatment and later referred to Udhampur Hospital for advanced care. They also confirmed that 15 to 20 sheep died due to the impact.
Traffic movement, which was halted following the incident, has now been restored.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident and have initiated an investigation.
