Srinagar, June 07: Waqf Board Chairperson Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi extended heartfelt Eid greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the entire nation, stating that the festival should be an occasion of unity, sacrifice, and prayers for peace.

Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Darakhshan Andrabi as per Sachnews Jammu Kashmir said, "People from across Kashmir gathered here today, and you witnessed one of the largest congregations. I extend Eid Mubarak to everyone, to you, to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and to all citizens of India. Peace and prosperity remain our foremost goals. Today, prayers were offered for lasting peace. The biggest obligation today is the act of sacrifice, and we pray that Allah accepts our sacrifices and prayers, and blesses Jammu and Kashmir once again with peace, development, and thriving tourism."

When asked about the disallowing of Eid prayers at Srinagar’s historic Jamia Masjid, Andrabi clarified, "All mosques, shrines, and religious sites under the Waqf Board across Jammu and Kashmir held Eid prayers without any issues. However, since the Jamia Masjid is not administered by the Waqf Board, I cannot comment on its situation."

Commenting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent inauguration of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, Andrabi said, "The Prime Minister’s dedication of this vital project is a major step forward. Since he took office, Jammu and Kashmir has transformed from zero to hero in just 11 years. We are hopeful that this progress will continue, InshaAllah."
