Kupwara, June 6:
District Magistrate of Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan (IAS), has imposed a complete ban on the sale and use of firecrackers within the district.
The order, issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS), cites concerns over noise and air pollution, along with the potential threat to public safety and property. The district administration observed that the use of firecrackers during festive occasions has often resulted in considerable inconvenience and discomfort to the general public.
"In the interest of public health and safety, it has become imperative to restrict the sale and use of firecrackers during Eid," the order stated.
The District Magistrate has directed the Senior Superintendents of Police in Kupwara and Handwara to ensure strict implementation of the ban in both letter and spirit.
