Shopian Police arrested three drug peddlers; Contraband recovered

In a significant action against the drug menace, Shopian Police apprehended three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession in the jurisdiction of Police Station Shopian.

 A police team from Police Station Shopian established a checkpoint at Aglar near Fruit Mandi. During naka checking, an Alto K10 vehicle bearing registration number JK02BM-7222 was signaled to stop. However, the driver attempted to flee upon spotting the police. The alert team swiftly intercepted the vehicle near Rambiara Bridge and apprehended the individuals onboard, Police officials said in a press statement issued to Sachnews.

Upon search, Charas like substance approximately 1.5 kgs was recovered from the vehicle. The arrested individuals discoles their identities as Suhail Ahmad Rather, Son of Tariq Ahmad Rather, Resident of Tak Mohalla, Shopian, Maroof Ahmad Wani, Son of Abdul Nabi Wani, Resident of Kiloora Malikgund and Firdous Ahmad Alaie, Son of Abdul Gani Alaie, Resident of Melhura.

In this connection, a case FIR No. 163/2025 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Shopian. Further investigation is underway to identify the forward and backward linkages of the arrested individuals.
