Doda, Sept 19: An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists on the Doda-Udhampur border, the Army confirmed late Friday night.
Army earlier said the operation was unfolding in Kishtwar, but they have now clarified that the contact site is located along the Doda-Udhampur border.
According to the Army, the gunfight began around 8 pm after security forces, acting on specific intelligence inputs, launched an operation in the area. During the search, contact was established with terrorists, triggering an exchange of fire.
Heavy gunfire was reported from the area as security forces tightened the cordon to prevent the militants from escaping. Additional reinforcements have been rushed in, and the operation remains ongoing.
Officials have not yet shared the details about the number of terrorists trapped.
