Dhaka, March 26: Former Bangladesh cricket captain Tamim Iqbal has shared an emotional message following his recovery from a severe heart attack suffered during a Dhaka Premier League game. In his first statement since the incident, Tamim reflected on the unpredictability of life and expressed his deep gratitude for the support and prayers he received.
Recalling a moment from two years ago during Ramadan, Tamim spoke about visiting his friend Anup, whose father had been unable to undergo heart surgery even after four years. That experience, he noted, highlighted the fragility of life — a realization that became even more personal after his own health crisis.
"It is the beating of our hearts that keeps us alive. Yet, we often forget that this heartbeat can stop without any warning," Tamim wrote. "When I started my day yesterday, I had no idea what was about to happen to me."
The cricketer attributed his survival to the mercy of Allah and the relentless efforts of the medical team. He expressed immense gratitude towards his family, friends, and fans whose prayers and unwavering support gave him strength during his recovery.
"By the infinite mercy of Allah and the prayers of all of you, I have returned. I consider myself fortunate to have had some incredible people by my side during this difficult time," he added.
Tamim’s message also carried a heartfelt reminder about the brevity of life. "Some incidents remind us of the harsh realities of life, making us realize just how short life truly is. In this short life, even if we achieve nothing else, let us stand by each other in times of hardship — that is my humble request," he said.
