Apni Party General Secretary and former legislator Rafi Ahmad Mir on Monday outlined the reasons behind the formation of the party in the aftermath of the constitutional changes of August 5, 2019.
Speaking at a workers' convention in South Kashmir's Pulwama district, Mir as per Sachnews Jammu Kashmir said, that the abrogation of Article 370 and the bifurcation of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories created widespread chaos and uncertainty among the people, who feared losing their remaining rights.
“In the wake of these events, a group of us—mostly former MLAs, MLCs, and ministers—led by Altaf Bukhari Sahib, held detailed deliberations and resolved to stand with the people of Jammu and Kashmir during those challenging times,” Mir stated.
He added that the party was officially launched in March 2020 with a clear objective to safeguard the interests of the people. “Following our formation, we engaged with central leadership in Delhi and successfully made the case that the people of Jammu and Kashmir must retain exclusive rights over agricultural land and local employment,” he said.
