Death Toll in Bijbehara Accident Rises to Two

Anantnag, April 08: The death toll in the tragic road accident that occurred on Monday evening near Fruit Mandi Jablipora in Bijbehara area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, has risen to two.

Reports reaching Sachnews Jammu Kashmir said, that Jasif Hassan, son of Gh Hassan Dar and a resident of Sangam, who was critically injured in the accident, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital late last night.

The accident took place when a truck collided with a car on the National Highway near Jablipora, resulting in the onspot death of Irfan Ahmad, a resident of Mirbazar.

Three others were injured in the accident and were shifted to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for treatment. Jasif Hassan, who had sustained critical injuries, later passed away at the hospital.

The other two injured Nadeem Ahmad Dar, son of Nazir Ahmad from Sether Halmulla, and Khursheed Ahmad, son of Ab Rashid are currently under treatment at SMHS Hospital. 

Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident. 

MLA Bijbehara Dr. Bashir Veeri took to social media to express his deep sorrow over the incident.

“My heartfelt condolences to the families of Irfan Ahmad from Mir Bazar and Jasif Hasan from Sangam Bijbehara, both young cricketers who tragically lost their lives in a road accident near Jablipora Fruit Mandi, Bijbehara, on the airstrip that has unfortunately become a death trap since its expansion and reconstruction, due to the failure of the underlying bypass. May Allah grant them highest place in janat'ul firdaus and give patience and strength to their families to bear these irreparable losses. I pray to Allah for the speedy recovery of Nadeem Ahmad Dar, nephew of Aijaz Ahmad from Sethar Halmulla, who has been shifted to SMHS Hospital, Srinagar," he wrote.
