Anantnag, May 22:  National Conference (NC) leader and District Vice President Anantnag, Imran Amin Shah, has called upon the government to include Andernag and Sherbagh in the Union Territory’s tourism development plans and expedite works aimed at preserving their natural and historical charm.

Speaking to the media during a day-long tour of interior areas of Anantnag town, Shah emphasized that it is commendable how the current NC-led dispensation under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is working diligently to steer Jammu & Kashmir out of its present challenges and correct the mistakes committed by the previous PDP regime.

Shah accused the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of deceiving the people of Anantnag with hollow promises. “They worked only for their personal comfort and luxury, encouraging corruption and promoting nepotism, while common people suffered due to rising unemployment and hopelessness,” Shah stated.

He further alleged that the misgovernance of the PDP was responsible for the current state of affairs in J&K, including the abrogation of Article 370. “It was because of the PDP’s policies and misdeeds that Jammu & Kashmir suffered such a grave loss,” he claimed.

Calling on the PDP to introspect rather than make baseless accusations against the NC, Shah reaffirmed his party’s commitment to peace, development, and the well-being of the people. “The National Conference stands by its promises and will continue to work for the peace and prosperity of Jammu & Kashmir,” he asserted.

Highlighting the poor condition of public infrastructure, Shah urged the administration to repair and maintain the toilet block near Sherbagh, and to ensure proper sanitation and other basic facilities for the large number of visitors the area attracts. He noted that Sherbagh, with its historical importance, deserves better attention from the government.

Shah was accompanied by senior NC members Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Kasid, Hilal Ahmad Shah, Fayaz Ahmad, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Khan, and others during the visit.
