Srinagar recorded its third-highest maximum temperature for the month of May, with the mercury touching 34.4°C on Thursday, according to data released by the Meteorological Centre Srinagar.
This reading is only behind the second-highest temperature of 35.0°C, recorded on May 31, 1956, and the all-time highest May temperature of 36.4°C, observed on May 24, 1968.
In another notable record, Kokernag weather station registered its highest-ever May temperature, with a maximum of 33.3°C recorded today. The previous record stood at 32.6°C, observed on May 15, 2001.
